What is Aesthetic Facial Balancing?

Before the procedure begins, Dr. Maercks will individually assess your unique features and design a customized treatment plan to bring out your natural good looks. How Dr. Maercks performs perioral AFB

The actual Aesthetic Facial Balancing procedure is painless and is performed through a limited number of tiny needle entries. A tiny blunt needle called a cannula is used to access the treated areas.

For the nose, Dr. Maercks performs a liquid rhinoplasty, a procedure that uses hyaluronic acid-based injectable fillers to harmonize the overall appearance of the nose. His trained eye can immediately recognize inconsistencies in this area, and he is able to expertly balance them out. A hyaluronic acid filler will be injected underneath the skin in the areas where volume and re-shaping are needed.

Dr. Maercks is able to minimize asymmetries by straightening the bridge of the nose, modifying the tip, and boosting out the nasal base to harmonize the sub-units of the face. Low cartilage, low dorsum, and/or a constricted columella can be treated with Dr. Maercks’s Aesthetic Facial Balancing for the nose. He is able to successfully improve noses of every ethnicity.

Dr. Maercks is also able to add volume to lips that are thin and dull. Aesthetic Facial Balancing for the lips can plump up a pout that has thinned over time with an injectable solution of hyaluronic acid. In addition to plumping, Dr. Maercks’s AFB can also be used to rejuvenate the mouth area or smooth out the lips. He can rotate the angle of the lips to create harmony between the lower sub-units of the face, as well as add volume resulting in a plumped, natural appearance.

Recovery

Recovery time from Aesthetic Facial Balancing may vary depending on the amount of volume used during the procedure, as well as the patient’s age, overall health, and post-procedure activities. When small sub-unit steps are planned, there’s typically no significant recovery time — but with more extensive treatments, recovery time may be 2 to 7 days. In some cases, there’s no recovery time at all, but patients should always be prepared for minimal swelling and perhaps some bruising. Patients usually leave Dr. Maercks’s office thrilled with their outcome, and are able to immediately return to their regular day.
