What is facial feminization?

Facial feminization aims to find balance and harmony of the face between shadow and light, masculine and feminine, natural aging and youthfulness. It’s an attempt to make the face as attractive as possible for as long as it lasts.

Facial feminization surgery is more often referred to as “gender reaffirmation surgery”, and is performed on females that want to look more feminine; males who want to increase the attractiveness of their features, and most commonly, transgender patients. Regardless of your specific reasons for seeking facial feminization, we can help ensure it’s a success.

What procedures can be used?

  • Dermal fillers
  • Neck lift
  • Facelift
  • Scalp advancement
  • Temporal lift
  • Brow lift
  • Cheek augmentation
  • Chin re-shaping
  • Jaw contouring
  • Osteoplastic surgery
  • Nasal tip refinement

Personalized treatment plans

Facial feminization surgery is always tailor-made to meet the needs of the patient. Dr. Maercks never views patients in a cookie-cutter manner; rather, he takes into consideration each individual’s unique facial structure and specific features. During your initial consultation, Dr. Maercks will carefully assess your desired goals to create a suggested list of recommended procedures that will help you achieve the look you want.

The facial feminization concept

Facial feminization surgery is fairly new to the field of plastic surgery, and is defined as a combination of both non-surgical and surgical procedures with the end goal of increasing the femininity and attractiveness of the facial features.

Studies have recently been done by a renowned facial plastic surgeon that report that the more feminine the features are, the more attractive the face is perceived to be. This is s constant regardless of gender, and confirms that feminine facial features are synonymous with attractiveness.

How is facial feminization achieved?

Highly recognized for helping the transgender community with advanced procedures, Dr. Maercks utilizes several different procedures to achieve a more feminine look in facial feminization, including a lip lift, facelift, or neck lift.

He may also use a lateral lower mandibular shave or a brow-bossing reduction to achieve the ideal appearance. Regardless of your motivation or desired outcome, Dr. Maercks has the ability to create and complete a look you’ll be happy with.

Are there risks involved with female feminization?

There’s risk involved in every type of surgery, and we do our best to control and minimize those risks. Your female feminization consultation

The first step to the facial feminization procedure is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Maercks. At this initial meeting, he will go over many things with you (including the information mentioned above). He may also perform a physical examination and go over any complications you’ve had in the past with surgery. It’s very important for you to be forthcoming with the information you give him.

The total cost and payment for the procedure will also be discussed during this consultation. The costs will vary based on the individual patient, and it’s good to be aware that insurance rarely covers the cost of this surgery. We can answer any questions you have about payment and direct you to your insurance company when necessary.
