What is Scrotox?

Scrotox — Botox® for the scrotum — is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment where injections of the muscle-relaxing botulinum toxin type A are used to make the scrotum look and feel better.

Before Scrotox was used as a cosmetic treatment (since approximately 2016), it was used medically as a way to relieve scrotal pain due to inflammation if surgery couldn’t. Results from Scrotox appear about one week following treatment and last between 3 to 4 months.

Key benefits of Scrotox

  • Reduced wrinkles on scrotum
  • Testicles hang lower and appear larger
  • Decreased sweating
  • Decreased pain
  • Relaxes the area
  • Fuller, smoother testicles
  • Enhanced sensitivity equals more pleasurable sexual activity

Who gets Scrotox?

Different individuals choose Scrotox for different reasons because it offers different benefits. We see patients who request this service are in the age range of the early 20s up to the 50s, with most in their 20s and 30s, and the two most common reasons we hear for seeking treatment are testicular pain due to contraction and testicles that appear too small. The service is also requested often to lessen sweating and the appearance of wrinkles. There’s also the element of elevated pleasure during sexual activity, as Scrotox often increases sensitivity, as well as the psychological benefit of enhanced confidence. Furthermore, Scrotox is frequently used to help men who are dealing with fertility problems, as it relaxes the testicles.

What happens during a Scrotox treatment?

Although Scrotox involves injections, the procedure is actually quite painless and easy. Numbing cream will be applied to the scrotum to keep you as comfortable as possible, and then about 50 gentle injections of Botox will be administered with a fine needle. These injections are made into the skin, not the actual testicles, where it is absorbed into the nerves in that specific area. Most patients are surprised with how quickly the injections are done, with treatment time typically taking anywhere from 2 to 4 minutes.

Downtime and results

There is no downtime with Scrotox. Patients will be able to return to their regular day immediately; however, please avoid heavy lifting or sexual intercourse for a few hours.

Side effects with Scrotox are very rare, but some patients temporarily experience slight numbness, swelling, bruising, a tight feeling, and/or discomfort. If you’re concerned about side effects or have any questions, this can be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Maercks. Results from Scrotox appear about one week following treatment and last between 3 to 4 months.

FAQ

How much does Scrotox cost?

A Scrotox procedure costs approximately $500 to $1,000.

Is Scrotox FDA-approved?

Scrotox is not yet FDA-approved; however, medical professionals have been administering this treatment safely since 2016.

Are there any risks?

Scrotox can alter the temperature regulation of the scrotum, which may have an effect on sperm count and effectiveness. This is because sperm functions more efficiently at a lower temperature than at regular body temperature.
